(Cala en Blanes, Menorca)
Was that you last night?
Calling me softly on the breeze
That mellow evening breeze
With the warm Mediterranean tones
The lively midday water colours
Subdued and blended for the night
Lapped at my feet and played
These tricks upon my ears, I think
Or was it you reaching out
Across the velvet expanse
Through the star littered plane
To touch me as you always did
With care and respect, love and tenderness
Touching me inside and out
Like no other could or would
Was it you?
I know it was, I feel it was
No surprise and no fear
Something akin to an emptied bath
Warm still with the sense of the recently departed.
